WEKFEST Chicago: Patrick McCue I
Although we have our own in-house photographer known as Jose Ontiveros, we realize that the way we do coverage is a bit different from others. When we decided to concentrate on the overall mood and atmosphere of the show instead of the builds themselves, we knew that some people would be confused. Some might even be put off by it preferring to just see the cars. So, knowing that I reached out to Patrick McCue to help us with coverage.
Patrick is a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Commercial Photography. The fact that he made the trek to Chicago was great in itself. He has numerous internships under his belt and is now a photographer for Maserati/Porsche/Audi/Volvo of Cincinnati. He is also a part of Skate4Cancer which is an organization that fights the war against cancer through skateboarding. With him being classically trained in photography I knew Patrick was going to put that to use in his coverage. I tried to tell him to forget all he is learned and capture the show how HE WANTS IT to look.
With so many automotive photographers it gets hard for the less informed to recognize a GOOD photo from a good QUALITY photo. Anyone can buy an expensive camera with lots of lenses and come out with a decent quality photo.
Even though he resorted to standard coverage in these photos the point I wanted to make is that Patrick has a lot of personality. The WEKSOS way will always favor personality over too much camera equipment and not enough awesomeness.
Thank you Patrick and good luck in all your endeavors in life.
